Last updated: [Insert Date You Forgot to Do This]
Welcome to OSI Layer 8, where privacy is taken as seriously as a Friday 4PM change request — which is to say, reluctantly but with the full force of sarcasm and caffeine behind it.
This page explains what happens to your precious data when you visit this site. Spoiler: I’m not interested in your secrets, unless they come with useful regex patterns.
1. What I Collect (Spoiler: Not Much)
When you visit osi-layer8.com, some basic information is automatically collected because the internet runs on surveillance and tears:
- Your IP address
- Browser type
- Operating system
- Referring site (who sent you here and why)
- What pages you clicked like some kind of cyber raccoon
This is standard web server stuff. I don’t personally care, but my hosting provider does. So blame them.
2. Cookies (Not the Tasty Kind)
Yes, there might be cookies. Probably just boring ones used for basic functionality or analytics.
No, I’m not using them to stalk you across the web like a targeted ad for socks you looked at once in 2017.
You can block cookies in your browser. If the site breaks, congrats — you’ve achieved true independence.
3. Third-Party Services (The Usual Suspects)
I might use tools like:
- Google Analytics (to watch anonymous blobs move around the site like ants)
- Embedded content from YouTube, GitHub, or other tech cults
These third parties might collect data about you, especially if you’re already logged into their platform. I have no control over that. I barely have control over my own Git aliases.
4. What I Do With Your Data
I do not:
- Sell your data
- Trade it for crypto
- Use it to train a mediocre AI
I do:
- Occasionally check analytics to see if anyone reads this stuff
- Use logs to fix things when the site explodes
5. Your Rights (Yes, You Have Some)
If you’re in the EU, congratulations — you’re protected by laws written by people who think “internet” is a passing fad. You can:
- Ask what data I have on you (probably nothing meaningful)
- Request that I delete it
- Yell at me via email

6. Updates to This Policy
This page will be updated whenever I remember it exists or when some regulation threatens to fine me into oblivion.
If this all sounds underwhelming, that’s because I’m not here to monetize you. I’m here to rant about network layers and automating away my own incompetence.
Thanks for reading. Or at least skimming. You monster.
